Governor of the Central Bank of Egypt (CBE) Tarek Amer said on Thursday 23/11/2017 the reform measures in the monetary policy were bold and well studied.
The reform measures received political support and the results were impressive, Amer said at a banquet hosted by BLOM Bank Lebanon on the occasion of his win of the best Arab central bank governor.
"Some expressed fears over these decisions, but the positive results that were achieved have dispelled such worries," he said, pointing to the strength of the Egyptian banking system and the efficiency of its staff.
Speaking at the banquet, Saad Al Azhari, deputy head of the Association of Banks in Lebanon, lauded Amer for his role in striking balance in the monetary policy in Egypt.
The flotation of pound had positive results in Egypt, he said, pointing to the increase in the foreign reserves to 36 billion dollars.
