Egyptian, French Naval Units Conduct joint Drills "Cleopatra 2018"

Egyptian and French naval units will carry out a joint naval drill code named "Cleopatra 2018" which is planned to take place during the period Feb. 20 through 23 in the Red Sea.
The naval exercise which comes as part of the Egyptian Armed Forces' annual plan of joint drills and in line with the operations being implemented by the Egyptian Naval Forces within the framework of their mission in the "Comprehensive Operation Sinai 2018" aims to secure Egyptian coasts including the Red and Mediterranean seas to protect Egypt’s economic interests and abort illegal immigration, smuggling and infiltration attempts.
In a statement on Monday 19/2/2018, the Armed Forces said that the exercises include the implementation of several activities that will be conducted throughout Egypt's southern naval fleet in the Red Sea.
The naval drills come in light of the deeply-rooted military cooperation relations and partnership between Egypt and France in various spheres, the statement added.
