Sisi: Launch of AfCFTA important step towards African's common market

President Abdel Fattah El Sisi asserted on Wednesday 21/3/2018 that the launch of the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) is considered a major step towards establishing the common African market.
The president's statements came in Egypt's speech to the summit of African heads of state in the Rwandan capital of Kigali, read out by Minister of Trade and Industry Tariq Qabil.
The president said the establishment of AfCFTA was the culmination of the strong will of the African continent and its people over the past years and negotiations since the 18th African summit in Addis Ababa in 2012.
President Sisi called for rallying efforts among African countries to achieve economic integration in the continent, saying the road is still long and needs strenuous efforts to fulfill negotiations.
He also said the agreement would help promote trade exchange among African countries as well as infrastructure and transport projects.
The president underlined the importance of liberalizing trade services which contribute to achieving sustainable development and industry in Africa with benefiting from world e-trade whose volume hit 1.92 trillion dollars in 2016.
