Orthodox Church thanks Sisi for restoring remains of Copts killed in Libya

The Coptic Orthodox Church has thanked President Abdel Fattah El Sisi and the state bodies for their efforts to get back the remains of Copts slaughtered by Daesh in Libya in 2015.

"The Holy Synod of the Coptic Orthodox Church, headed by Pope Twadros II of Alexandria, Patriarch of St. Mark Diocese, extend sincere thanks to President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi, his aides, all concerned bodies in Egypt, the Libyan authorities, the Egyptian and Libyan embassies, the Attorney General and the security bodies in both countries for their sincere efforts," said the church in a press release.

Earlier on Monday, Pope Tawadros, along with religious and security leaders, received the coffins of the victims at the Cairo airport.

A private plane brought the coffins from Libya. .
