Shoukry, EU commissioner discuss preparations for upcoming Arab-EU summit

Minister of Foreign Affairs Sameh Shoukry held talks on Wednesday with EU Commissioner for European Neighborhood Policy and Enlargement Negotiations Johannes Hahn, Foreign Ministry spokesman Ahmed Abu Zeid said in a statement.
Shoukry lauded the ongoing cooperation between Egypt and the EU, which he said witnessed several positive developments over the past period, referring in this regard to meetings of the subcommittees concerned with political affairs, human rights, stability, security and confronting terrorism.
He also reviewed Egypt’s efforts to fight illegal immigration, stressing that Cairo's keenness on banning the departure of any immigrant boat for Europe since September 2016, added the spokesman.
Meanwhile, the Egyptian top diplomat welcomed the outcome of the 9th round of economic and financial dialogue between Cairo and the European Union, held on Tuesday in Brussels.
