Friday، 14 December 2018 - 01:43 PM

Minister of Trade and Industry Amr Nassar said Thursday 13/12/2018 that the 14th meetings of the Continental Free Trade Area Negotiating Forum (CFTA-NF) and 7th African Union Meeting of Ministers of Trade (AMOT), currently being held in Cairo, reached agreements on several pending issues.

After more than two years of negotiations, the parties finally agreed on several controversial issues, topped by setting up the mechanisms necessary for trade liberalization among the African countries, Nassar said during the ongoing meeting of African trade ministers.

The parties agreed on the first sectors to be liberalized as a first phase, Nasser added, noting that these sectors include tourism, transportation, telecommunications, financial services and business sectors.

Egypt's hosting of these meetings comes in advance of assuming the chairmanship of the African Union in 2019 in a bid to boost integration and cooperation with African countries.
