Egypt's Foreign Ministry welcomed the agreements and understandings reached among Yemeni rivals at the end of their peace talks held in Sweden.
In a statement released on Thursday 13/12/2018, the Foreign Ministry praised the agreements relevant to a withdrawal of troops and reaching a ceasefire in Hodeidah city and harbor, the main entry point for imported food and aid, as well as other deals pertaining Ras Issa, Salief and Taiz city.
The statement commended the agreements reached among the waring parties, considering them as important step for working out a political solution according to UN resolution No.2216.
The statement also highly appreciated the regional and international efforts exerted to reaching Sweden understandings, reiterating the importance of continuing such positive spirits which are currently overwhelming the Yemeni scene. The statement urged the Yemeni parties to fulfill their commitment to such agreements in order to ease suffering of the Yemeni people.
The Sweden talks mark the first meeting in two years between the northern Houthi rebels and President Mansour Hadi government that has been backed since 2015 by the Saudi-led coalition.
The last round of talks, hosted by Kuwait in 2016, collapsed after more than three months of negotiations with no breakthrough.
