Antiquities Minister Khaled el Anany said that an Egyptian archaeological mission has discovered a tomb belonging to a Fifth Dynasty royal priest in Giza's Saqqara.
The tomb belongs to a royal priest named “Wahtye” from the reign of King Nefer Ir-Ka-Re, he noted.
The minister made the remarks on Saturday 15/12/2018 during a press conference to announce details of the new archaeological discovery in Saqqara, which is considered the last one in 2018.
The press conference was attended by 20 foreign ambassadors, members of Egypt’s parliament, heads of archaeological missions and institutes besides cadres of the Antiquities Ministry.
The tomb is exceptionally well-preserved and painted, Anany underscored.
Secretary General of the Supreme Council of Antiquities Mostafa Waziri said that the tomb is 10 meters long and 3 meters high, adding that excavation works continue in the archaeological site.
