Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouli on Thursday 20/12/2018 witnessed the signing of a cooperation protocol between the health and higher education ministries to run and manage a number of public hospitals in governorates.
The protocol comes as part of coordination between the two ministries to make good use of available potentials and provide excellent medical services for frequent-visit patients.
Such strong coordination was embodied in the health campaign initiated by President Abdel Fattah El Sisi for early detection of Hepatitis C Virus and eliminating patient waiting lists.
Higher Education Minister Khaled Abdel Ghafar said that coordination between the ministries of health and higher education comes within the framework of the state's keenness to benefit from university cadres in each governorate in offering medical services at hospitals.
As per the agreement, the Higher Education Ministry will be responsible for paying the salaries of all staffers at hospitals, in addition to training all medical cadres.
Meanwhile, the two ministries will be in charge of managing all medical and technical aspects to run hospitals, as well as supervising the provision of all medical services.
For her part, Health Minister Hala Zayed said the protocol is aimed at achieving integration between the Ministries of Health and Higher Education with regard to running and managing a number of hospitals for five years.
According to the agreement, the Health Ministry will bear the costs of construction, medicines, maintenance, nutrition, security and hygiene, Zayed said.
Also, the health minister pointed out that her ministry will also be responsible for providing basic needs of doctors, nurses, pharmacists, secretaries, administrators, technicians and workers.
