Antiquities Ministry: 4 archaeological finds made by US mission in Aswan

Secretary General of the Supreme Antiquites Council Moustafa Waziri has said that the American archaeological mission from the University of Chicago has made four important discoveries in Aswan's Tel Edfu site in 2018.

In a statement released on Monday 24/12/2018, Waziri added that those archaeological finds included a cylindrical limestone column, dating back to the 18th Dynasty. The archaeological pillar is 165 cm in length and 28.5 cm in diameter.

The American mission also uncovered a sandstone bust dating back to the 19th Dynasty. The ancient piece is 20 cm in height, 10.6 cm in length and 7.8 cm in width, he noted.
For his part, Abdel Moneim Saeed, the general director of the Aswan and Nubia antiquities council, said the American mission also uncovered another statue and relief dating back to the 18th Dynasty.

The statue, depicting a seated man, is 23.4 cm in height, 13.7 cm in length and 7.4 cm in width, while the limestone relief inscribed with hieroglyphic writings is 37.6 cm in length and 25.5 cm in width.
