Sisi: Egypt's efforts to resolve regional crises pillar of its national security

Saturday، 16 February 2019 - 04:11 PM

Egyptian President and chairman of the African Union Abdel Fattah El Sisi on Saturday 16/02/2019 took part in a session of the Munich Security Conference on the situation in Africa and Europe.

During the session, Sisi said Cairo's efforts to resolve Arab crises are a pillar of achieving Egypt's national security.

The Egyptian president asserted that cooperation between Arab and European states is historic, which he said made Europe the biggest partner to the Arab region, Egyptian Presidential Spokesman Bassam Rady said in a statement.

Sisi added that instability in some Arab countries affects Europe, and vice versa. In this regard, he underscored the importance of maintaining joint contact and coordination to resolve problems and issues of mutual concern.

The Arab-European summit, set to be held in Sharm el Sheikh City in late February, is a key step in this regard, he said.

Meanwhile, Sisi said he was the first president of a Muslim country to urge rectifying religious discourse, calling on the world countries to deal with modern communications systems and social media websites, which he said can contribute to spreading extremist ideology and recruiting individuals.
