Tourism plays a key role in cementing Egypt's relations with world countries, especially with the African ones, Tourism Minister Rania al Mashat said on Friday 22/02/2019.
This comes as part of the country's new promotion campaign titled "People to People", through which the Tourism Ministry seeks to show the world the creativity of Egyptians in the areas of arts, culture, cinema and sports, al Mashat told MENA.
She noted that the participation of a large number of African ambassador in the biannual phenomenon of the alignment of the sun on the face of Ramses II's statue in Aswan's Abu Simbel Temple, is clear evidence of Egypt-Africa strong and distinguished ties.
The presence of African diplomats in such a celebration comes as Egypt presides over the African Union (AU) and its hosting of the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations, as well as declaring Aswan as the capital of African youth, el Mashat said.
The Tourism Ministry is keen on making good use of these events to promote Egypt's tourist destinations, she stressed.
Al Mashat pointed out that a slogan "One Africa One Heart" has been selected to shed light on the importance and depth of historical relations between Egypt and Africa.
She thanked the celebration's organizers and the ministries of antiquities and culture, as well as different state bodies, for their cooperation to ensure the success of the event.
About 20 folk art troupes performed shows at the celebration.
