Britain’s Minister of State for the Middle East Alistair Burt asserted that Prime Minister Theresa May is looking forward to increased coordination and cooperation with Egypt toward many issues and files of priority for the two countries.
At a meeting with Egyptian Ambassador to Britain Tareq Adel in London on Thursday 14/03/2019, Burt underscored the pivotal role played by Egypt in maintaining the peace and stability of the Middle East region.
The meeting between the two sides covered means of boosting bilateral relations and cooperation especially in the economic and investment domains, according to a press release by the Foreign Ministry.
Burt expressed May’s appreciation of the warm hospitality accorded to her by the Egyptian side during her participation in the Arab-European summit in Sharm El Sheikh last month, noting that the confidence that Egypt enjoys at the regional and international levels contributed tangibly to the success of the event.
Ambassador Adel said that the summit was held at a very crucial time and the topics it addressed are of great priority to Egypt particularly given the huge challenges facing the Arab and European countries and the many developments taking place globally which make it all the more important for all sides to come together and muster their efforts to deal with them.
