Egypt re-elected co-chair of GCTF Working Group

Egypt has been re-elected for the second time in a row to the co- chairmanship of the Capacity-building in the East Africa Region Working Group of the Global Counter-Terrorism Forum (GCTF).
Cairo will co-chair the group with the European Union for two more years till 2021.
Egypt and the EU were elected unanimously by the member states
during the meeting of the Coordinating Committee held in Malaga of Spain.
Delivering Egypt's speech before the meeting, Assistant Foreign Minister Ehab Fahmy welcomed the member states' confidence in Egypt to continue this role with the EU.
The group aims to address terrorism and violent extremism dynamics and requirements in the region by mobilizing adequate resources. It provides a forum for information exchange, networking, and cooperation among a variety of stakeholders to promote dialogue, understanding, sharing of analysis and lessons learned with a view to build collaborative partnerships in and for the region.
