CAF to conduct African Cup of Nations draw Friday

The Confederation of African Football’s (CAF) executive committee will hold a draw for the group stages on Friday evening, said CAF on its website.
While the format for the draw is yet to be made public, CAF is expected to use a mixture of the March 2019 FIFA world rankings released last week and recent performances in the Nations Cup to sort the teams.
Hosts Egypt will take up place A1 in the draw with holders Cameroon‚ Ghana‚ Senegal and Tunisia.
South Africa are likely to be placed in pot three‚ alongside Uganda, Mauritania, Kenya, Angola‚ Burundi and Madagascar.
The second pot will be made up of Algeria‚ the Democratic Republic of Congo‚ Guinea‚ Mali‚ Ivory Coast and Ghana.
The last pot will include Namibia and Tanzania, Angola, Zimbabwe and Burundi.
The draw procedure is also still to be ratified and released‚ some 24 hours before Friday night’s draw at the Pyramids in Cairo where the 24 finalists will find out which groups they have been drawn into.
