Saturday، 13 April 2019 - 01:23 PM

The draw ceremony for the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) took place Friday 12/04/2019 in Cairo, with host Egypt facing DR Congo, Uganda and Zimbabwe in Group A.

Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouli and CAF President Ahmad Ahmad attended the ceremony, held at Giza Pyramids Plateau.

Nigeria were drawn with Guinea, Madagascar and Burundi in Group B, while Group C gathers Senegal, Algeria, Kenya and Tanzania.

Morocco will face Cote d'Ivoire, South Africa and Namibia in Group D, while Tunisia will clash with Mali, Mauritania and Angola in Group E.

Group F gathers Cameroon, Ghana, Benin and Guinea Bissau.

Egypt was granted the tournament's hosting rights in January after planned host Cameroon was forced to stand down due to lack of preparation.

Twenty-four teams for the first time in the history of the competition will take part, and will be divided into six groups.

The tournament will take place from June 21 to July 13, having been moved from January/February to avoid club-versus-country clashes.
