FM urges preventing fleeing fighters from moving to region

Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry has stressed the importance of coordinating international and regional efforts to prevent the fighters who flee battles in some countries from moving to the countries of the region and drying up funding resources for terrorist groups.
Shoukry made the remarks on Tuesday 11/6/2019 at a meeting with US Special Representative for Syria Engagement and Special Envoy for the Global Coalition to Defeat Daesh terrorist group James Jeffrey.
The meeting touched on the latest developments in Syria and anti-terrorism efforts.
During the meeting, Shoukry reviewed Egypt's stance towards the Syrian crisis, atop of which preserving the unity, sovereignty and integrity of the Syrian State.
Shoukry asserted that Egypt will continue its efforts to push forward the political process in Syria and create a positive future in the country in conjunction with its moves to combat terrorist and extremist groups in the Arab country.
Meanwhile, the US envoy posted Shoukry on Washington's vision towards the developments in Syria.
Jeffrey voiced the US support to the key role of Egypt to end the Syrian crisis, praising Cairo's constant efforts to combat terrorism and extremism, which he said are major fields of strategic cooperation between both countries.
