Friday، 08 November 2019 - 02:01 PM

Defense Minister Mohamed Zaki arrived home on Thursday 07/11/2019 following his three-day official visit to Greece.

During his stay, the defense minister discussed in a meeting with his Greek counterpart a number of issues of common concern, as well as means of fostering military relations between the two countries' armed forces.

Also, Zaki held a joint session of talks with the Greek and Cypriot defense ministers on the latest progress made in the field of defense and security, as they expressed their determination to foster trilateral military cooperation, with a view to facing regional challenges and bringing about peace and stability.

The three ministers asserted that the defense cooperation aims to exchange experiences and raise capabilities, through holding joint military exercises.

They condemned Turkish illegal excavations in Cyprus' exclusive economic zone, calling for an immediate stop of these drilling activities.

The three defense ministers deplored Turkish violations of the airspace and territorial waters of Greece in contravention of international law.

They also decried the Turkish invasion of northern Syria, which led to a new humanitarian crisis and a fresh inflow of migrants.

The ministers agreed to hold the next meeting of defense ministers in Cyprus in 2020.
