Celebrated by Copts in Egypt according to the calendar of the Egyptian Coptic Orthodox Church.

The celebration comes after a 55-day fasting during which only vegetables are allowed for eating.

The celebration includes a Mass as of 8pm to 12 at mid night on the eve of the feast and usually falls on a Saturday and is aired live by TV from St. Mark Cathedral in al-Abbassiya district. The Mass is led by the Pope of the Orthodox Church. After the church Mass, Copts return home to start their festival with eating the most delicious food.

Easter always falls on a Sunday; one day ahead of Sham el-Nessim feast that is celebrated by all Egyptians.
