Both countries keenness on consolidating consultations stems from Norway's interest in several Middle East issues, closely related to Egyptian national security. The Norwegian keenness is reflected on the volume of allocations provided by the budget of development assistance to such issues, particularly the issue of South Sudan, Darfur, Somalia, Iraq and Afghanistan. Also there is a mutual interest in a number of international urgent issues, particularly climate change, environment, women's empowerment and education.
On 7/12/2013, former Foreign Minister Nabil Fahmi met with Norwegian Foreign Minister Borge Brende on the sidelines of the "Manama Dialogue" forum. The meetings took up the latest developments in Egypt, the road map and the constitution that was finished by the 50-member committee and presented to Interim President Adly Mansour.
