Egypt and Mexico have been working to boost their economic and trade ties. In 1998, the Egyptian-Mexican trade exchange totaled $24.388 million.
Trade volume between Egypt and Mexico reached about $450 in 2009, whereas the Mexican investments in Egypt reached up to $700 especially in fields of cement, oil, constructions, technology, (the project of Cemex Cement Company at Assiut Cement Factory is the most important Mexican investment project in Egypt, with total investment of $650 millions approximately). The most important Egyptian investment project in Mexico is the electrometers of El-Sewidi Company as it is a joint project with the Mexican SU CASA Company with a total cost of $2.5millions, and Egypt owns 60% of its capital.
Egyptian exports to Mexico are mostly natural gas, solar, construction materials, clothes, raw cotton, marble and rugs. The Egyptian imports from Mexico are mostly construction chemicals, veterinary medicine materials, industrial machines spare parts, vehicles spare parts and vaccines, especially those of the bird-flu.
