Shoukry: Sisi's message to Abadi confirms support for stability in Iraq

Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry said on Saturday 2/7/2016 that he delivered a message from President Abdel Fattah El Sisi to Iraqi Prime Minister Haider Abadi that confirms support for Baghdad in its quest to reach stability and to curb terror threats.
The foreign minister asserted that Egypt spares no effort to back Baghdad in its plan to sweep terrorism out of Iraq.
The top diplomat made the remarks during his official visit to Iraq where he met with Abadi, his Iraqi counterpart Ibrahim Jaafari and Parliament Speaker Salim Al Jabouri.
Shoukry said "Egypt sees that maintaining Iraq's central role within the framework of Arab national security is something that boosts joint Arab capabilities."
Shoukry hailed efforts exerted by the Iraqi premier to bring different Iraqi groups together as this is the only way to keep Iraq as a main part of the Arab national security.
Asked about the content of Sisi's message to Abadi, the foreign minister said it is a solidarity message with the Iraqi government and people in their efforts to overcome challenges.
As for his talks with Iraqi officials, Shoukry said the talks tackled means of boosting efforts exerted through mechanisms of the joint committee and the business council as well as stimulating the Egyptian-Iraqi trade exchange.
