Tuesday، 21 March 2017 - 03:49 PM

House of Representatives Speaker Ali Abdel Aal arrived in Rabat on Sunday 19/3/2017 on a two-day official visit to Morocco.

The visit is meant to take part in the 24th conference of the Arab Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU), slated for Monday.

The conference discusses ways to promote joint Arab action and review international and regional activities of the Arab Inter-Parliamentary Union.

Speakers of Arab parliaments on Monday unanimously nominated Speaker of the Egyptian House of Representatives Ali Abdel Aal for the membership of the Executive Bureau of the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU).

The decision was taken in a consultative meeting gathering speakers of the Arab parliaments and heads of the delegations participating in the conference.

The membership is scheduled to be put into force as of IPU's next meeting, slated for April in Bangladesh.

Abdel Aal asserted on Monday that the Arab joint work is facing challenges that require unifying efforts to face them.

This came during his speech at the IPU conference titled “Arab status quo”, currently held in Rabat.

He added that these challenges include terrorism that require launching an initiative that adopts a number of laws aiming to face terrorism.

He called for solving the main reasons behind the spread of the terrorism phenomenon.
