Indian PM hails Sisi as great leader for saving country

Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday 23/03/2018 hailed President Abdel Fattah El Sisi as a great leader who succeeded in restoring the security and stability of the country.

Modi made the remarks during a meeting with Egyptian Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry, Spokesman for the Foreign Minstry Ahmed Abu Zeid said in a statement.

During the meeting, Shoukry handed over the Indian premier a message from president Sisi, expressing Cairo's keenness on boosting relations with New Delhi and continuing bilateral coordination on a number of issues of common concern, Abu Zeid added.

Also, Shoukry has posted Modi on the considerable progress achieved in bilateral ties over the past three years, asserting that Egypt looks forward to receiving the Indian prime minister as soon as possible, Abu Zeid noted.

For his part, the Indian premier congratulated Shoukry on the success of the Egyptian-Indian joint higher committee's proceedings, voicing his country's willing to push forward cooperation with Egypt in the fields of investment, technology, training and terror combat, added the spokesman.

Furthermore, Shoukry stressed that Egypt eyes cementing coordination with the Indian side with regard to the fight against terrorism and extremism, in addition to promoting trade and economic cooperation to increase the volume of trade exchange between the two countries.

The Egyptian government exerts more efforts to enhance the business and investment climate, Shoukry said, citing the latest progress in the different areas, notably the economic one.

Cairo is working to raise the rate of Gross Domestic Product (GDP) and lower the unemployment rates, as well as developing education and technical training, Shoukry said, asserting Egypt's keenness to bolster cooperation with India in the domain of capacity-building and the exchange of expertise.

New Delhi aims to consolidate cooperation with Egypt in the project of Suez Canal corridor and the establishment of an Indian industrial zone, Modi told Shoukry.

At the end of the talks, the pair probed enhancing joint coordination at international forums and supporting efforts to achieve peace and stability in the Middle East.
