President Abdel Fattah El Sisi hailed the development of the historic ties binding Egypt and China, describing them as a "comprehensive strategic partnership."
Sisi cited the remarkable economic and investment progresses witnessed by the two countries, especially after signing an inclusive strategic partnership deal.
The Egyptian president appreciated the Chinese partnership in many developmental projects conducted in Egypt.
He stressed the importance of boosting the relations between the two countries, increasing the trade exchange, adding that such partnership would serve the interests of the Egyptian and Chinese peoples alike.
He also welcomed the participation in the China-Africa Cooperation Forum, saying he was assured that its results would serve the interests of both Africa and China.
Sisi stressed Egypt's keenness to continue strengthening and activating the mechanisms of the China-Africa Cooperation Forum, especially during its chairmanship of the African Union in 2019, in light of the consensus in the vision of development priorities of the African countries and China.
President Sisi also affirmed Egypt's support to the Chinese president's "Belt and Road" initiative, especially that Egypt is a historical and cultural partner of China in this initiative, which represents a revival of the Silk Road to form a number of other cultural and civilization axes that aim at achieving interconnection between the peoples, the goals which Egypt has long supported and sought to strengthen, said Presidential spokesman Bassam Rady.
Sisi stressed the importance of the Egyptian role in the framework of the initiative, taking into account its unique geographical location, which links the continents of Asia, Europe and Africa, as well as the presence of the Suez Canal, which is a pivotal trade route in promoting and facilitating the global trade movement in line with the principles and objectives of the Belt and Road Initiative.
The two leaders held bilateral consultations followed by an extended session in the presence of the delegations of the two countries, which the Chinese President began by welcoming President Sisi, said the spokesman, adding that the Chinese leader expressed his happiness to confer with Sisi again. He praised the development of bilateral relations between the two countries to the level of comprehensive strategic partnership.
The Chinese President pointed out that Egypt's achievements in terms of economic reforms, security stability and the implementation of several major national projects in a short period of time led major Chinese companies to work in Egypt and contribute to the implementation of these projects at various levels, especially in the economic and commercial fields.
He pointed out the importance of working to increase trade exchange between the two countries, especially as Egypt is one of the guests of honor at the Shanghai import conference, which is scheduled to be held in November and is a good opportunity to promote Egyptian products and fill the trade deficit between the two countries.
The Chinese President stressed that the level of coordination at the political level between the two countries on a number of regional and international issues of common concern reflects their keenness to deepen and strengthen the strategic relations. He welcomed the participation of President Sisi in the summit of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation.
He said that Egypt is one of the most important African countries, citing its chairmanship of the African Union in 2019. He added that it is important to continue the high-level coordination and consultation between the two countries to promote the relations with the African continent.
The talks touched on a number of regional issues of common concern, said the spokesman, adding that the Chinese president expressed his country's support to the Egyptian efforts in combating terrorism and uprooting extremism from the Middle East.
The two sides also agreed on the importance of working on finding solutions for the crises in the Middle East and to continue their coordination in international forums, added the spokesman.
