Sisi: Regional chaos averted thanks to people

Saturday، 13 October 2018 - 10:04 AM

President Abdel Fattah El Sisi said Egypt has peacefully overcome the regional chaos because the state institutions are well-established in the minds of the Egyptian people.

In an interview with Kuwait's Al Shahid newspaper, Sisi hailed as deeply-rooted the relations linking Egypt and Kuwait at all levels, citing the firm stance of the Gulf country and its Emir Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah in support of Egypt in hard times.

The president urged concerted efforts and cooperation among the Arab countries to protect the national security from dangers facing the Arab nation.

"Cooperation and solidarity will enable the Arab states to create a state of deterrence that prevents all greedy sides from attacking Arab states," he said.

Sisi said the so-called Arab Spring was caused by "a wrong treatment of a wrong reality."

"This creative chaos, led by the Muslim Brotherhood, damaged many Arab countries, such as Libya and Yemen", he said.

On Syria, the president said the country has begun to recover from the crisis it has experienced and needs a reconstruction process.

He voiced concern about "36,000 terrorists in Syria who came from all over the world", warning that they may be exploited by intelligence agencies in plots to harm the region once the Syrian crisis is settled.

The president asserted that the MB would have no role in Egypt as long as he is in office. "The Egyptian people will not accept a MB return to power."

Sisi also renewed his calls for renewing the religious discourse.

"Egypt does not conspire against others despite anti-Cairo policies adopted by an Arab country and some states in the region", he said.

He also stressed that the World Bank economic reform plan had not been imposed on Egypt, but developed by the Egyptian government and then sent to the WB.

Egypt will backtrack on the reform track, he said.
