40th Cairo International Film Festival

Under the patronage of the Ministry of Culture, the 40th session of the Cairo International Film Festival (CIFF) will be held from 20 to 29 November 2018 at the Egyptian Opera House, with the participation of about 160 films from 59 countries around the world.

CIFF received 2351 submissions, 2200 of which are eligible. The submissions received include 790 feature films, 623 of which are feature fiction films, 167 documentaries, and approximately 1300 short films.

‘Green Book’ Opens the Film Festival

Cairo International Film Festival (CIFF), held from the 20th to the 29th of November has announced the opening film of its 40th edition will be the Middle East Premiere of ‘Green Book’ starring award-winning actors Viggo Mortensen and Mahershala Ali directed and co- written by Peter Farrelly. The film won Toronto International Film Festival’s coveted People’s Choice Award

A tribute to Arab female directors

the Cairo International Film Festival (CIFF) has announced establishing a special section titled “Arab Female Directors”.  This showcase will celebrate eight Arab women who have accomplished great achievements in filmmaking, and who have prestigiously represented Arab Cinema at International festivals.
