President El Sisi inaugurates Cairo ICT 2018

President Abdel Fattah El Sisi inaugurates on Sunday 25/11/2018 Cairo International Exhibition and Conference on Telecommunication and Information Technology (ICT 2018).

The conference, held under the auspices of President El Sisi, is scheduled to conclude its activities on November 28.

Nearly 500 international and local companies and emerging companies will participate in this exhibition.

The exhibition, held at Egypt International Exhibitions Center under the slogan: Driving Transformation, will run till November 28.

Cairo (ICT 2018) aims at bringing professionals and senior executives ، to develop and improve their trade through the use of technology ، as well as to develop business relations and market awareness of new technology solutions offered by companies in various fields.

The event is attended by Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouli, Minister of Communication and Information Technology Amr Talaat and a number of other ministers and senior statesmen.

The event started with the screening of a documentary on the Communication and IT sector expounding the ICT ministry's achievements in terms of establishing centers and preparing training programs for various age groups in IT specialties in partnership with major international institutions and universities.

The documentary showed that training programs have helped create distinguished job opportunities for Egyptian youth in local and international companies, asserting that Egypt has become one of the best countries to offer cross-border IT services, namely outsourcing and IT in more than 20 languages, providing jobs to 230,000 people and exporting services worth dlrs 2.3 billion.

Egypt has established a number of other technology zones in Borg el Arab, Assiut, Beni Sueif and Sadat City, the documentary showed.

IT and Communication Minister Dr Amr Talaat said modern technology is the main infrastructure of global economy and the basis of sustainable comprehensive development. This cannot be achieved except through digitization and building the personality which are pillars of progress and development, he said.

The ministry is working on preparing trained and specialized cadres in the various technologies and the inauguration of the digital academy in Arabic, which will provide a free self-training opportunity for youth, not only in Egypt but in the entire Arab world, he said.

This coincides with our projects which aim to attract global investments, develop technological zones and activate benefits offered by the law in cooperation with the Ministry of Investment and International Cooperation, he said.

The ministry is also implementing a large number of programs and projects, mainly eight technology innovation communities at regional universities in cooperation with the Ministry of Higher Education and the Knowledge City in the New Administrative Capital which will comprise research centers in various fields, he added.

The ministry plans to launch a digital platform of Egyptian cultural content in cooperation with the Ministry of Culture and all the bodies concerned to be a new way of building the Egyptian personality through culture and knowledge, he said.

Talaat said the ministry has adopted Egypt Vision 2030 on sustainable development concept through making a breakthrough in the level of services offered to the citizens.

The ministry seeks to launch a number of government services through various channels based on the cultural diversity and different usage of technology by the citizens, he said.

The ministry is keen on maintaining partnership with its African partners to enhance digitization in Africa in coordination with the Foreign Ministry, he said.

The minister expressed thanks to the president for his continued support to the communication and IT sector in Egypt.
