EDEX 2018: 1st International Defense & Security Industry Exhibition

Under the patronage of President Abdel Fattah El Sisi, the President of the Arab Republic of Egypt and the Supreme Commander of the Egyptian Armed Forces, Egypt will host a major international defense exhibition in 2018, under the name of Egypt Defense Expo (EDEX), bringing together key defense and security players from the region and across the world. The event will take place on 3-5 December 2018 at the new Egypt International Exhibition Center in New Cairo.
The exhibition groups 373 international companies representing 41 countries in addition to the participation of 57 official delegations comprising defense and military production ministers along with chiefs of staff.
The event draws more than 10,000 visitors of top brass and those interested in armament and military industries.
EDEX-2018 will be a biannual exhibition and its second edition will be held in 2020.
The exhibition sends a message to the world that Egypt enjoys stability and security despite terrorism, and that Egypt is capable of organizing international conferences in all fields.
All military industries that are manufactured by the Ministry of Military Production and the Arab Organization for Industrialization will be displayed at "EDEX-2018".

President Abdel Fattah El Sisi inaugurated EDEX 2018, Egypt's first tri-service defense expo. President Abdel Fattah El Sisi received heads of delegations participating in EDEX 2018. Sisi and heads of the delegations had a photo opportunity.
Defense Minister Mohamed Zaki saluted and expressed his deep appreciation of President Abdel Fattah El Sisi for sponsoring "EDEX-2018", the first International Defense and Security Industry Exhibition in North and Central Africa. He said that President Sisi's sponsorship of this exhibition aims at delivering a message to the world that the defense and armament systems are the main pillars of peace and security and the fortress of stability for nations and peoples.
The defense minister said that the Egyptian Armed Forces are the strong bastion that protects this nation and possess all potentials to preserve its peace and ensure its safety in a world embroiled in turmoil and conflicts.
The opening ceremony started by displaying a documentary film produced by the Department of Moral Affairs titled "Egypt… power and peace".
After the inauguration, Sisi inspected the exhibition's various pavilions including the technical researches, the defense weaponry, the electronic war, explosives detection and protection from terrorist threats.
President Sisi inspected the Saudi and UAE pavilions.

President Abdel Fattah El Sisi received Cypriot Defense Minister Savas Angelides on the sidelines of the Egypt Defense Expo (EDEX) 2018 and raised distinguished relations between Egypt and Cyprus in all fields particularly the positive development at various levels, adding that he is looking forward to continued military cooperation and joint drills between the two countries.

President Abdel Fattah El Sisi received French Minister of the Armed Forces Florence Parly on the sidelines of the Egypt Defense Expo (EDEX) 2018. The meeting discussed enhancing military cooperation between the two countries, as well as discussing the latest developments of regional and international issues of common concern.

During his participation in the EDEX-2018, UAE Minister of State for Defense Affairs Mohammed bin Ahmad Al Bawardi praised the good organization and wide participation of major companies specialized in defense and security industries.

Minister of South Korea’s Defense Acquisition Program Administration (DAPA) Wang Jung-hong hailed the good organization of EDEX 2018, Egypt's first tri-service defense expo. Jung-hong noted that he toured the Egyptian pavilion with State Minister for Military Production Mohamed Saeed el Assar, lauding the advanced technology of arms industry in Egypt.

President Abdel Fattah El Sisi met Sudanese Defense Minister Awad Ibn Ouf in the presence of Egyptian Defense Minister Mohamed Zaki and head of the General Intelligence Service Abbas Kamel in addition to the Sudanese ambassador in Cairo.
