House speaker: Egypt supports stability efforts in Burundi

Speaker of the House of Representatives Ali Abdel Aal asserted Egypt’s support for stability efforts in Burundi at all regional and international forums, noting that Cairo backs Gitega at the African Union (AU) Peace and Security Council in line with its chairmanship of the AU.

Abdel Aal made the remarks as he received on Saturday 22/06/2019 Speaker of Burundi Senate Revérien Ndikuriyo, along with his accompanying delegation.

During the meeting, Abdel Aal said Egypt-Burundi relations are deep-rooted and stable, noting that Cairo has long been willing to engage in fruitful cooperation with African states.

The top Egyptian lawmaker also pointed out to the variety of cooperation fields with Burundi at all levels, especially the parliamentary one.

Meanwhile, the speaker of Burundi Senate affirmed that relations with Egypt are special in all fields, particularly with regard to the two countries' parliaments.
