PM tours Samalout bridge axis in Minya

Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouli asserted on Saturday 07/09/2019 the importance of the Samalout bridge axis project that is implemented to link the two banks of the Nile River with the aim of achieving development in Upper Egypt, easing the suffering of citizens and providing job opportunities.
The premier made the remarks during his visit to Minya governorate, accompanied by Minister of Investment and International Cooperation Sahar Nasr, Minister of Antiquities Khaled el Anani, Minister of Local Development Mahmoud Shaarawi, Minister of Trade and Industry Amr Nassar, Minister of Transport Kamel el Wazir and Minya Governor Qassem Hussein.
Madbouli listened to a detailed explanation about the Samalout axis by the transport minister.
Wazir said the project is part of the transport ministry’s plan to link roads stretching along the east and west of the Nile River.
The Samalout bridge axis extends for 24 kilometers and is 21 meters wide, the minister said, pointing out that it is one of seven axes being implemented on the Nile River.
Wazir added that the Samalout axis project, which includes 30 bridges and 17 tunnels, is carried out at a total cost of EGP 1.5 billion.
Work at the axis started on December 20, 2017, the minister said, noting that it will be finished by the end of 2019.
