PM inspects demolition work in Cairo's Ain Al Hayah area

Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouli on Thursday 12/09/2019 inspected the demolitions in Cairo's Ain Al Hayah area.

The demolitions are part of the state's plan to renovate Al Fustat district in Cairo and develop the area surrounding the National Museum of Egyptian Civilization.

During his inspection tour, the premier was briefed on the work progress in the area, where around 241 residential buildings were leveled and 56 cemeteries removed.

Cairo Governor Khaled Abdel Aal told the prime minister that some 69 families were provided alternative apartments in the 6th of October City.

For his part, Housing Minister Assem el Gazzar said there is a blueprint to turn the whole area into a global tourist attraction.

The area includes the Mosque of Amr ibn al As, the Hanging Church, the St George Church, Abu Seifein Church and St. Mary Church, as well as Ben Ezra Synagogue and the National Museum of Egyptian Civilization.
