Sports Minister witnesses ceremonies for hosting 2021 World Handball Championship

Youth and Sports Minister Ashraf Sobhi on Thursday 03/10/2019 attended ceremonies for hosting the 2021 IHF World Men's Handball Championship, to be held in Egypt.

The ceremonies were also attended by president of the International Handball Federation (IHF) Hassan Mostafa, head of the Egyptian Olympic Committee Hesham Hatab, president of the African Handball Confederation Mansourou Aremou, head of the Egyptian Handball Federation Hesham Nasr, among others.

The minister highlighted that the coming edition of the tournament will include 32 national teams instead of 21 ones for the first time, noting that such a challenge requires great efforts to prove Egypt’s capability for hosting major events successfully.

He pointed out that the naming of Egypt by the IHF to host the tournament reflects the federation’s confidence in the country’s efficiency and potential for the successful organization of the championship.

Sobhi added that the Egyptian state institutions are exerting their utmost efforts under the directives of President Abdel Fattah El Sisi to ensure the success of the tournament.
