President Abdel Fattah El Sisi has praised the quantum leap in Egyptian-German relations in all fields.

In a meeting on Wednesday with German Chancellor Angela Merkel at the chancellery headquarters in Berlin, Sisi said that Egypt looks forward to boosting bilateral cooperation and political coordination between the two countries on issues of mutual concern.

He expressed hope that German development institutions would take part effectively in Egyptian development plans and increase the volume of German investments in Egypt to promote economic cooperation and increase national projects especially after the measures adopted by the Egyptian parliament to improve the atmosphere of investment in the country.

Presidential spokesman Bassam Rady said the meeting witnessed intensive talks between the delegations of the two countries where Merkel at the start of the talks welcomed the president and praised the level of relations especially in the economic domain.

Merkel, according to the spokesman, asserted that Egypt is one of the most important partners for Germany in the Middle East due to its role in achieving security and stability in the region.

The talks also dealt with reviewing means to coordinate efforts with Egypt as a partner to the European Union in combating terrorism and illegal migration, as well as coordination on regional issues, most particularly the crisis in Libya and helping the north African country to find a solution to its problems, end terrorism, maintain its national institutions and stop interference in its domestic affairs, Rady said.
