The Foreign Ministry on Sunday 6/1/2020 denounced the Turkish parliament approval to send military troops to Libya as a blatant violation of international legitimacy resolutions and the UNSC decisions on the North African country.
In a meeting with US and European ambassadors in Cairo, Assistant Foreign Minister Motaz Zahran and other Egyptian diplomats warned of the repercussions of any possible Turkish military intervention into Libya.
Zahran told the foreign diplomats that the Turkish move could affect the political settlement process in Libya and undermine the Mediterranean's stability.
The assistant foreign minister asserted that Egypt is continuing efforts to bring about regional security and stability, calling on the international community to hold its responsibility in standing up against such a Turkish action.
