Head of the African Affairs Committee of the House of Representatives MP Tarek Radwan on Friday strongly denounced the Ethiopian side's stance during the recent negotiation round on filling strategy of the Grand Ethiopian Renaissance Dam (GERD).
Radwan said Ethiopia aims to fill the dam without applying any rules or offering guarantees for the downstream countries, a matter which shows its deliberation of not reaching any resolution during the prolonged negotiations.
Addis Ababa wants to dominate the Blue Nile River and fill the dam without regard for water interests of the downstream countries, Radwan noted, pointing out that the political leadership, under President Abdel Fattah El Sisi won't accept any decision which harms the Egyptian people's interest or abandon their rights in the Nile River.
The Foreign Ministry's statement on GERD meetings showed the Ethiopian obstinacy to the world and its refusal to maintain Egypt's water rights.
Addis Ababa's policy does not aim to solve the matter at all, he added.
