The 27th session of Egypt International Marathon kicked off on Friday 17/01/2020 with the participation of 270 racers from 20 countries.

People with special needs are taking part in the marathon.

Luxor's Deputy Governor Mohamed Abdel-Qader Khairy said the marathon kicked off at Temple of Hatshepsut in the presence of the governorate's senior officials, adding that the event offers several distances including a full marathon (42 km), a half marathon (22 km) and Ramsis-Run & walk (12km).

The current winter tourist season in Luxor is the best since 2011 with occupancy rate at the governorate's hotels ranging between 80 to 90 percent, he noted.
