Renowned Egyptian archaeologist Zahi Hawwas on Friday 17/01/2020 posted a World Bank delegation on the secrets of the mighty Sphinx and Pyramids of Giza.
During a visit to the Giza Pyramids area, Hawwas told the delegation members that the Great Sphinx of Giza belongs to the pharaoh Khafre, aka Chephron, denying reports about the presence of a lost city under the statue.
He also briefed the World Bank group on the recent discoveries made by the Antiquities Ministry in the Valley of the Monkeys, located at Luxor's western bank of the Nile, as well as the discovery of Al-Asasif Cachette.
The famed Egyptologist also talked about the discovery of a papyrus at Wadi al-Jarf as the most important find in the 21st century as it reveals many secrets about the Khufu ( Cheops) Pyramid construction.
Afterwards, the World Bank delegation and International Cooperation Minister Rania el Mashat paid a visit to the under-construction Grand Egyptian Museum, due to open in late 2020.
