FM: Egypt insists on reaching just settlement of Israeli-Palestinian conflict
Saturday، 01 February 2020 - 04:34 PM

Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry affirmed Saturday 01/02/2020 Egypt's full support to the Palestinian cause and the legitimate Palestinian government.
Shoukry made his remarks during his speech at the opening session of an emergency meeting of the Arab League Council, held at the ministerial level to probe Trump's peace plan for the Middle East.
The Minister emphasized Egypt's insistence on reaching a just solution to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict without prejudice to the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people, including the right to establish their own independent and sovereign state along the pre-1967 borders with East Jerusalem as its capital.
Determinants and elements of the fair and comprehensive settlement are both well-defined and unchanged, he said, noting that these determinants are based on resolutions of international legitimacy, topped by the resolutions of the UN Security Council and General Assembly as well as the Arab Peace Initiative adopted by the pan-Arab body in 2002.
Minister Soukry stressed that the stalled Middle East peace process should not affect the legitimacy of the Palestinian cause, which does not just concern the Palestinian people, but is also of main importance to international order all countries have pledged to preserve to maintain international peace and security.
