King Ramses II obelisk
The final part of King Ramses II obelisk has been installed in Cairo's Tahrir square, the Tourism and Antiquities Ministry announced Tuesday 11/2/2020.
The obelisk was renovated and re-assembled by a team of restorers from the Supreme Council of Antiquities (SCA), Secretary General of the SCA Moustafa Waziri said in a press release.
It has been re-erected on a high pedestal to protect it from passersby tampering, he added.
The 19-meter obelisk, which was discovered in San Al Hagar archaeological site in Sharqia Governorate, about 112 kilometers northwest of Cairo.
