Library of the Egyptian Cabinet's Information and Decision Support Center (IDSC)

The Library of The Egyptian Cabinet's Information and Decision Support Center (IDSC) was established in 1987. The Library provides information of various forms and types in the fields of decision support, economic and social development, management, and information technology.

The library provides the center's members and external researchers with selected local and international databases.

Moreover, the library plays an important role in the field of the development of specialized human resources and young graduates in the field of libraries. In addition to that, it provides advisory services for the development of Egyptian libraries .

Information Services

The library is keen to provide information services, such as borrowing, Internet access, answering questions and inquiries and photocopying services .

Library brochures

These publications aim to address the community of beneficiaries at two levels: the internal level of the information center staff and the external level of academics and professionals .

Training courses

The Library is keen to provide the necessary consultations in the field of Egyptian libraries development through using information technology. During 10 years, IDSC managed to develop more than 458 libraries in ministries and provincial information centers, in addition to public, university and school libraries, as well as libraries of a number of Arab and regional organizations and bodies .

The training programs aim to develop the skills of Egyptian librarians in the framework of developing them from manual to automated systems .

Electronic Library Internet System (ELIS)

IDSC has established the electronic library system, which works through the Internet and includes the bibliographic database of main and sub libraries in both Arabic and English. It is processed technically in accordance with international standards using MARC 21 forms. It is accessed using several portals: title, author, topic, year of publication, publisher, series, classification number, or by searching by linking more than one entry in one step .

This system is integrated in a way that links the bibliographic database to the borrowers' database to provide automatic borrowing service.
