Sports Minister: 225 stranded athletes back home

The Youth and Sports Ministry said that 225 stranded Egyptian athletes had returned home.
This comes within the framework of the state's plan to repatriate Egyptians stuck abroad because of the coronavirus pandemic.
In a press release, Youth and Sports Minister Ashraf Sobhi said that the ministry is contacting a number of entities and ministries concerned to provide the ministry with information about stranded athletes worldwide to bring them back home.
He noted that the Egyptian government is keen on bringing the stranded athletes back home as soon as possible. He added that the ministry is now working on bringing 214 athletes back to Egypt from Saudi Arabia and the United States.
Meanwhile, the athletes who are currently in the quarantine hailed and thanked Egypt’s political leadership over their keenness on bringing the stranded citizens back home. They also hailed the government’s efforts aiming at confronting the spread of the hazardous coronavirus.
