PM: Govt considers means of helping returnees cope with living requirements

Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouli chaired on Friday 05/06/2020 a meeting of the economic group in the presence of the ministers of foreign affairs, petroleum, emigration, planning, international cooperation, finance, public business sector, civil aviation, and trade and industry.

The premier reviewed the latest efforts exerted by the State to bring back home Egyptian nationals stranded abroad, noting that the government is currently considering the economic and living conditions of the returnees, mainly their qualifications and areas of experience to help them cope with the current living requirements.

In this regard, Minister of State for Emigration and Egyptian Expatriates Affairs Nabila Makram proposed forming a committee grouping representatives of several ministries, the private sector and civil society to review means to help the returnees benefit from their savings via investing them in small projects and offering them suitable saving vessels.

Meanwhile, International Cooperation Minister Rania el Mashat shed light on her ministry’s efforts to deal with the challenges posed by the COVID-19 crisis including moves to provide the funding required to support the health sector in addition to ongoing negotiations with development partners to secure financing packages in order to tide over the pandemic-driven funding gap.

She also underlined the ministry’s efforts to promote debt relief for middle-income and emerging countries in international forums.
