Health and Population Minister Hala Zayed on Saturday 08/08/2020 ordered health department officials across the country to closely follow up the distribution of medicine bags to self-isolated COVID-19 patients and their direct contacts.

Cloth face masks will be among the preventive supplies included in these bags, which will be distributed as per the ministry's system for tracing and aiding patients' families and close contacts, Zayed added during a meeting at the ministry's General Directorate for Medical Supply.

Assistant Minister of Health for Financial and Administrative Affairs Wael el Saai, Assistant Minister of Health for Public Health Initiatives Mohamed Hassani and Head of the Egyptian Ambulance Authority Mohamed Gad attended the meeting along with a host of the ministry's senior officials.

The meeting tackled ways to improve the national medical supply system though warehouse mechanization and scaling up the efficiency of administrative bodies.

Zayed directed to set up a new system for distributing medical supplies to fulfill all the needs of healthcare facilities in cooperation with specialized distributors, Spokesman for the Health Ministry Khaled Megahed said in a statement.

She also called for improving the efficiency of pharmaceutical warehouses by introducing a coding system for medical products, equipping these facilities with CCTV security systems and adopting a standard operational system to be connected with the General Directorate for Medical Supply and its affiliated warehouses nationwide, the spokesman noted.
