Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouli has issued a decision on the appointment of Ahmed Ghonim as CEO of the National Museum of Egyptian Civilization, located in the old Cairo city of Fustat.

Ghonim, professor at Cairo University’s Faculty of Economics and Political Science, shall hold this position for three years as a successor of Ahmed el Sherbini.

Ghonim is the first chief of the museum’s authority after issuing rules on its regulation as per Law No. 10 of 2020 last February.

Ghonim met Minister of Antiquities and Tourism Khalid Anani in the presence of Secretary General of the Supreme Council of Antiquities Mostafa Weziri and key respective officials and they toured the museum, which is one of the most important national projects.

Ghonim held many important positions at several international organizations and institutions, including the World Bank, the Arab League and the United Nations Development Program.
