Awqaf Minister Mohamed Mokhtar Gomaa has asserted Egypt is moving ahead with the process of development, through building several projects in different sectors.

Gomaa's remarks came during a Friday sermon he delivered at Fatah Mosque in Zagazig city of Sharqia governorate, on the occasion of its national day.

On his part, Sharqia Governor Mamdou Gharab greeted the governorate's residents on the national day, which falls on September 9 of each year.

Around 53 mosques will be inaugurated in Sharqia in September, at a total cost of around EGP 200 million, Gharab said.

The governorate will also see the opening of around 55 projects in the fields of drinking water and sanitation, electricity, housing, educational buildings, youth and sports, at a total cost of EGP 1.96 billion, Gharab added.
