Sisi confers with president of European Council on boosting cooperation

President Abdel Fattah El Sisi conferred on Thursday 17/09/2020 over the phone with President of the European Council Charles Michel on means boosting joint cooperation in the various fields and coordinating efforts on the most important regional files ahead of the EU Summit, scheduled on September 24-25.

The conversation also touched on the Egyptian-EU relations and all of its political, economic, and development aspects, presidential spokesman Bassam Radi said.

They also addressed the latest developments in the Mediterranean region and Libya, where they agreed on increasing the consultations between Egypt and EU as well as the importance of reaching a comprehensive political settlement to the Libyan crisis, the spokesman added.

The two sides also probed cooperation between EU, Egypt in the fields of enhancing development, maintaining peace and security in Africa with a special focus on continuing EU support to African states in handling the impact of coronavirus pandemic crisis especially in the health and food sectors, and encouraging companies to pour more investments into the continent, according to the spokesman.
