Petroleum Minister Tarek el Molla thanked on Sunday 27/9/2020 President Abdel Fattah El Sisi for his unceasing support to the petroleum sector, especially by implementing strategic projects to develop it and back the national economy.

During the inauguration of the Hydrocracking Complex in Qalubiya's district of Mostorod, Molla attributed the sector's success over the past six years to the president's strong support.
Molla pointed out that the refineries and refining complexes' capabilities to produce gasoline and diesel reached 13.5 million tons in 2013-2014, while local consumption hit 21 million tons.
The minister said at that time the Egyptian refineries’ production capacity failed to meet local consumption needs, pointing out that the country used to import more than 12 million tons of petroleum products annually to fill the gap between supply and demand.
This led the country to draw up a national strategy to increase local output capacities through developing its manufacturing infrastructure and storage and shipment capabilities, he said, citing several important projects to serve this purpose, the most recent of which was the expansions to shore up the refining capacity in Alexandria, which were opened last month, and the project inaugurated today, noting that both ventures will add more than 4.3 million tons to the local output of petroleum products.
