The cabinet media center dismissed Friday reports circulated on some social media pages alleging that expired goods not fit for human consumption are being traded in local markets.
The Ministry of Supply and Internal Trade dismissed such reports as “baseless,” the center said.
The ministry stressed that all products and goods available in the markets are completely safe and conform to all the health and quality standards and criteria.
The ministry added that it continuously launches campaigns for controlling and monitoring markets and shops, and taking all the necessary legal measures against any violations.
It urged all media outlets and social media users to verify the authenticity of news they receive so as not to publish information not based on facts and avoid stirring public discontent.
