Minister of Environment Yasmin Fouad said Saturday that Egypt has steadily moved to the sustainable means of transport, thanks to the support of the political leadership.
Fouad said that such support has paved the way for more coordination among ministries of electricity, trade, petroleum, military production, finance and public business sector to outline national policies, and encourage investments in such field.
Fouad’s remarks came during her participation in the Global e-Mobility Forum through the video conference after an invitation from the Polish climate minister.
Egypt has been working for three years on plans to gradually move to the electric means of transportation through considering several successful experiences from other countries, a move that will have a positive impact on both the environmental and health conditions in Egypt.
Working on these plans, the Environment Ministry has encouraged using bicycles, public transport, and electric transport means, the minister added.
